Mike Cox: John James Sides With Democrats, Votes to Protect Biden Auto Mandate
Every Michigan Republican in Congress voted to kill the mandate. John James was the lone exception.
Livonia, MI - Republican candidate for Governor Mike Cox today blasted Congressman John James for voting with Democrats and against every Republican member of Congress from Michigan to keep a Biden-era mandate on auto manufacturers known as the “kill switch” mandate.
House GOP slammed by conservatives for joining Dems on controversial 'kill switch' amendment
James voted with 211 out of 215 Democrats in Congress, including every Michigan Democrat, preserving a federal mandate imposed during the Biden administration that forces automakers to install government-mandated technology in vehicles that opens the door to unprecedented federal control over personal vehicles.
Every Michigan Republican in Congress voted to kill the mandate. John James was the lone exception.
“This wasn’t a close call or a complicated vote,” Cox said. “Every Republican from Michigan said no. John James stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Democrats instead, against his own party, in favor of further government control and intrusion into every facet of your life.”
“Auto manufacturers don’t need more Washington mandates. They need leaders who will fight for their jobs, their paychecks, and their freedom,” Cox said. “This vote proves John James won’t do that.”
“As Governor, I will always stand for personal liberty and with Michigan workers, not Biden bureaucrats, not Washington insiders, and not politicians who talk conservative at home but vote Democrat in Washington,” Cox added.
