LEARN MORE ABOUT MIKE COX
Former Marine Corps Infantry Rifleman. Former Michigan Attorney General.
Mike Cox is the son of immigrants who came to Michigan with little more than grit and hope. His dad was a carpenter, and his mom was a domestic maid, and they taught Mike and his brothers they could do anything in America. He served as a U.S. Marine Corps infantry rifleman before putting himself through the University of Michigan undergrad and law school, and spending 21 years prosecuting dangerous criminals and murders. In 2002, he became Michigan’s first Republican Attorney General in 50 years, winning a razor-thin race - and winning again in a tough year when Republicans lost at the top of the ticket.
As Attorney General, Mike slashed bureaucratic waste, fought government overreach, and secured justice for victims. Even with 20% fewer staff, his office handled more cases than ever before, saved thousands of Michigan homeowners from foreclosure, defended gun rights, and cracked down on illegal immigration. After leaving office, he built a successful law practice representing survivors of sexual abuse and standing up for everyday Michiganders against big institutions and government power.
In an era of expanding DEI mandates, Mike has long fought for genuine equality instead of backwards “diversity, equity, and inclusion” practices. As Attorney General, he vigorously championed—and later defended in court—the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative (MCRI), which amended the state constitution to ban racial discrimination. When liberal interests tried to undermine MCRI, Mike stood firm, ensuring every Michigander is judged by character and merit, not progressive identity markers.
Mike fights for us because he’s one of us. While career politicians look out for themselves, he’s always stood with working families who want lower taxes, safer communities, and better schools. Through every battle, he’s proven that he’ll take on the status quo and never back down.
Mike is married to Laura Cox, a former special agent with ICE for 13 years. In fact, Laura was working undercover on a cross-border money laundering and drug case when she and Mike met. They are the proud parents of four children and grandparents to two. Among their children, one served as a U.S. Marine and another is currently a U.S. Naval Officer. Mike understands the sacrifices families make and is committed to ensuring Michigan remains a land of opportunity for those willing to work hard and stand up for what’s right.
