Mike’s Monday Minute | March 2, 2026

I weighed in on Governor Whitmer’s final State of the State and what it really means for Michigan. Spending has grown dramatically while utility rates remain high, jobs are leaving, and reading scores rank near the bottom nationally. As Governor, I will focus on cutting waste, growing jobs, fixing our schools and making Michigan competitive again.

On NewsNation, I defended President Trump’s use of tariffs to strengthen American manufacturing, and how Michigan is already seeing the impact. Companies like Stellantis and Ford are onshoring jobs, bringing investment and opportunity back to our state.

As woke activists protested, I visited the new ICE facility in Romulus and talked about how President Trump’s investment will create 1,400 new jobs, bring $150 million into the community and make Michigan safe. This investment will strengthen local families, support law enforcement, and make our communities safer.  As Governor, I will stand with ICE, the police, and more jobs for Michigan.

In Flat Rock, I joined activists ahead of the State of the Union to discuss how we move Michigan forward. We had an important conversation about restoring strong leadership in our state and winning this upcoming election.

I appeared on One America News to discuss how President Trump’s State of the Union shifted the narrative. His leadership exposed the contrast between policies that put Americans first and those that prioritize illegal immigration.  Michigan needs leadership that enforces our laws and stands up for public safety.

Team Mike showed up in force at local GOP conventions in Oakland, Kent, Wayne, and Macomb counties! The energy is strong, and Michigan Republicans are united and ready to win in 2026.

I joined the Kalamazoo County GOP for Coffee and Politics to discuss taxes, education reform, data centers, and hidden millages. Voters want lower taxes, better schools, and a state government that works for them.

In New Buffalo, I saw firsthand how Michigan continues to lose jobs and families to other states. High taxes and heavy regulation are driving people south. As Governor, I will cut taxes, reduce red tape, and make Michigan a place where families and businesses choose to stay.

I spoke with The Midwesterner while visiting small businesses in Holland about what it will take to grow Michigan’s economy. Michigan entrepreneurs need policies that encourage growth, reduce red tape, and support job creation across the state. That interview will come out this week!

I gathered with veterans and their families at American Legion Post 105 in Benton Harbor. Michigan owes our veterans strong leadership that honors their service and protects the freedoms they fought for.

I spent time with residents from across the state at the Novi Gun and Knife Show, where people from all backgrounds came together around their shared commitment to constitutional freedoms.

The direction of Michigan will be determined in 2026, and the energy behind our campaign continues to grow. Across the state, voters are looking for bold leadership, real accountability, and a government that works for them again. We are building a disciplined, statewide operation focused on winning and delivering meaningful results.

If you’re ready to help bring change to Lansing and restore responsible leadership, consider chipping in today.
