Cox: John James Keeps Hiding from Voters as GOP Primary Tightens Into Three-Man Race
LIVONIA, MI — Gubernatorial candidate Mike Cox said John James’ decision to skip today’s Gubernatorial debate is the clearest sign yet that his once-hyped campaign is crashing out, as polling confirms the primary is now a three-man race.
“He says he’s not coming because he’s taking votes in DC, which would be a believable excuse, except for the fact that he has the worst voting record of any member of the Michigan delegation,” said Cox. “The only thing this guy likes less than doing his job is having to answer questions back home.”
The most recent public polling shows a three-man race between Mike Cox, Perry Johnson, and John James, as James’s campaign continues to collapse.
And the momentum is moving toward Mike Cox.
Polling confirms this is a three-man race, with James failing to hold the dominant position he claims.
Mike Cox has more than double the cash on hand of John James, giving Cox a major advantage heading into the summer.
Cox is the only candidate in the race who has won statewide twice, with a proven record of defeating Democrats.
“Republicans are looking for a winner, not another repeat loser who disappears when the pressure is on,” Cox said.
As Michigan’s former Attorney General, Cox has already delivered the kind of results Republican voters are demanding. He cut the size of his office by more than 20 percent while increasing output, banned driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants, enforced the law, and returned billions for Michigan taxpayers.
“Leadership means showing up,” Cox said. “Showing up to do the job. Showing up to answer tough questions. Showing up to fight.”
Cox said James’ absence from today’s debate and his declining standing in the polls point to the same conclusion:
This is a three-man race, John James is collapsing, and he can’t hide from Michigan voters forever.
