Cox Renews Call to “DOGE” MEDC Amid $20 Million Whitmer Insider Scandal
“Democrats say Michigan cannot afford tax relief for working people, but somehow there is always money for political insiders.”
LIVONIA, MI — Former Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox renewed his call today to “DOGE” the Michigan Economic Development Corporation following criminal charges against Fay Beydoun, a Whitmer-appointed MEDC insider tied to a $20 million taxpayer-funded earmark.
“Democrats say Michigan cannot afford to give working people a tax break, but somehow there is always money available for their political friends. While Michigan families struggle to pay their bills, Lansing insiders and Whitmer cronies are cashing massive taxpayer-funded checks behind closed doors.”
Cox said the scandal is further proof the MEDC has become a vehicle for corporate welfare, insider dealing, and corruption.
“This is exactly why I have called for DOGE-ing the MEDC,” Cox said. “The MEDC has become a slush fund for politically connected insiders. No more corporate welfare. No more backroom deals. Shut it down.”
Reports have also tied Beydoun politically to Governor Whitmer, including hosting a fundraiser for the governor while seeking the taxpayer-funded earmark.
“Lansing is a cesspool. The same insiders keep getting rich while taxpayers get stuck with the bill. Michigan needs a battle-tested Governor who has prosecuted corruption, cleaned up government waste, and knows how to hold powerful people accountable.”
“I have done it before, and I will do it again,” Cox said. “It is time to drain the Lansing swamp and put money back in the pockets of hardworking Michigan families.”
