Welcome to Mike’s Monday Minute! Check out what’s been happening over the last week on the campaign trail:
Happy belated Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms across Michigan, especially my beautiful wife Laura.
Republicans in Sanilac County were fired up and focused on one thing above all else: winning. Ideas only matter if we nominate someone who can actually defeat the Democrats and deliver results for Michigan families.
A strong debate performance in Ottawa County led to energetic discussions on public safety, election integrity, and affordability. Voters are tired of empty promises and want leadership that can actually get things done.
I joined the Italian American Club in Livonia where we talked about eliminating the income tax, fixing literacy, and cutting the wasteful bloat that has exploded under Gretchen Whitmer.
The latest corruption scandal involving a Whitmer-connected MEDC insider accused of embezzling $20 million reinforced exactly why we need major reforms in Lansing. More government has meant more waste, more insiders, and more corruption. We need accountability, transparency, and leadership willing to clean it up.
A stop in Grand Rapids included conversations with young entrepreneurs about revitalizing Michigan’s economy, bringing jobs back to the state, and making it easier for small businesses to grow.
Energy was high in Livingston County as grassroots activists packed the room for Taco Tuesday and Cinco de Mayo festivities. Republicans were focused on the same priorities we are hearing everywhere else: affordability, freedom, and winning again in Michigan.
I attended the Michigan Prayer Breakfast in Lansing. It was a great opportunity to spend time with people of faith from across the state and reflect on leadership, perseverance, and service.
St. Clair County Republicans packed the room for strong conversations on jobs, education, and bringing prosperity back to Michigan after years of decline.
Voters across Michigan are also paying closer attention to the way local governments quietly push tax increases through low turnout elections. One reform I strongly support is moving all millage elections to the November General Election ballot so taxpayers are no longer blindsided by property tax hikes in May and August elections.
Our campaign continues to gain ground across Michigan because voters are hungry for change and ready for leadership that will actually fight for them. Everywhere we go, people are responding to our message of lower costs, safer communities, and bringing accountability back to Lansing.
Now we need to finish the job, win this race, and put Michigan back on the right track.
